Digo Digital for Tam Tam

Laura Subi and Arnau Coll form Digo, a creative-duo based in London. This multidisciplinary design and research studio experiments in all disciplines: digital, film, objects, interactive and visual. In this collaboration, they create a digital stage without limits to generate a game between the light of the Tam Tam and everyone’s favorite food.

Play Pause
Digo, could you tell us how you founded the studio?
DDIt came very naturally. We had a time where we spent many hours at home in front of the computer, especially Arnau. And we came up with the idea of starting to try and learn new techniques as methods to explain or teach our style.
What concept did you want to put forward in your proposal?
DDWe wanted to digitally understand the Tam Tam lamp and play with the lighting it can project in space by synchronizing it with other elements. So we tried to generate a scenario between the possible and the not possible.
What was your inspiration for this proposal? Did you take into account any references?
DDWe get inspired by everyday spaces we would like to see the lamp in it. And we sought the peculiarity of a character like the Pixar lamp.
What does this lamp evoke?
DDWe imagined the functionality of the Tam Tam goes beyond illuminating. It also allows you to move the shades rotating from one side to another; above a dining table full of your favorite food. It is a lamp with possibilities and playfulness, and this is what we wanted to represent.
Is there any feature of the Tam Tam that caught your attention?
DDWe were struck by its ability to illuminate different spaces or objects by rotating its lampshades.
Working with light is essential for any designer. What role has light played in your collaboration with Marset?
DDIt has been at the center of composition and animation. It is particular to work with an object that emits light in the physical space and reinterpret it in the digital one. Especially to understand how it would illuminate or what characteristics make it unique in any environment.
