Molly, what do you do for a living?
MBI am a full time content creator in the fashion and design world. I work mostly on Instagram but I am slowly expanding to other platforms
Could you describe what are the different things you do?
MBI guess the biggest part of what I do is documenting my life and surroundings in a way that hopefully inspires others. I more specifically photograph outfits that I wear everyday, events I attend whether that be personal or professional, meals I make or meals I enjoy made by others, spaces that I have designed or enjoyed, I mean the list really goes on and on. I also partner with various brands in the fashion and design world to create imagery to promote whatever it is the brand is promoting at the time. I am an extremely visual person and this job allows me to create and capture a moment in time that surrounds a specific product or experience. It is honestly such a weird job to explain…but it is really fun.
Apart from work, what do you like to do in your free time?
MBI love hanging out with my friends and family. I enjoy going to farmers markets and seeing what all the hard working farmers have produced that week. I also have a degree in Interior Design so I love learning more about that and collecting inspiration wherever I can find it under the umbrella of Interiors. I especially love dogs and the fun/joy they bring to the world! I will also take a long walk outside everyday and just enjoy nature. It brings me immense peace.
What are your references, what inspires you?
MBI am constantly getting inspired. Whether that inspiration comes from Instagram, Pinterest, design books and my friends/families homes. When I go on walks around beautiful neighbourhoods I get a ton of inspiration. Everywhere I get inspiration is also my references in the work or designs I do. I have a love for a lot of different styles of design/inspiration so it would be hard to pinpoint them exactly. But right now in the summer months I am super inspired by stripes, fruits, ice cream, cafe curtains in sweet vintage cotton with applique, dappled sunshine, full green trees and flowers, longer days, warm toned light etc.
Everyone has a favourite space, what’s yours and what do you enjoy about it?
MBI think my favourite spaces are the ones that I feel are carefully designed and consider how good the space will make individuals feel. A focus on lighting, textures, colours, overall atmosphere, all while making sure to bring in personal touches. I love a wine bar, coffee shop, or small little restaurants that feel like someone's home.
How would you describe your style and spaces?
MBIt’s hard to describe it but I think my style focuses on intentional layering, vintage style fabrics, aged wood, colour, patterns and texture all working in tandem. I think the American South has an impact on my style and spaces as well. I always make sure every little detail is thought about. I love how color and patterns really bring a space to life. I love how drapery and millwork in a space really finishes it off in a beautiful polished way. I am very inspired by the English, French and Italian countryside, especially the interior design. I guess to sum it up, calmness and warmth with lots of good details is how I would describe it.
Molly, when you're not working, where do you spend most of your time?
MBI spend most of my time at home and home has been looking like a lot of different spaces for me right now. I don’t have one spot that I am currently rooted in and that’s honestly hard for me. However, wherever I am I always find a space that feels considered and super comfortable. My twin sister's space is a space I spend a ton of time at and one space that I feel like I have also had a lot of input in its design. But honestly both of my sisters or my parents house bring me peace in different ways. So, you can find me there often. Also, coffee shops!
Can you share a special space that you carefully created yourself?
MBHonestly, any space that has been mine over the years has always been carefully created because that's what I love to do. But recently I designed a bathroom over at my parents house. We gutted and redid the whole thing. So, I have to carefully choose every little detail to redesign it. My mom loves bright colours and patterns. So, the wallpaper is nympheus style colourful print with blues, greens, reds, pinks, yellows. From there I made sure the wallpaper stayed the main focus. So, the tiles are white and pale yellows, with a subtle blue stripe. The vanity is a deep red that I felt paired so nicely with the baby blues. Marble and chrome finishes to keep with the more classic 1920s style. And of course I had to bring in linen on the shower curtain and a sweet little cafe curtain for privacy on the window.
Have you ever come across Marset before?
MBOnce you got the lamp, could you tell us something you found interesting about this product?I honestly hadn't heard of Marset before they reached out for a partnership. I am really glad they did! I have been looking for battery powered lamps for years now because there are so many spaces in a house where lamp lighting would be beneficial but there isn’t a plug nearby. So, the first thing I noticed was the beautiful warm light that the lamp gave off. I moved it around and put it in places where I had been craving some light to be. I also love the sleek style, it's very minimal and it's distracting. It also reminds me of those mid century mushroom lamps but in a more minimal way.
How important is lighting for you and can you describe how you treat it in different spaces?
MBLighting is one of the most important parts of a space. It can transform the feeling in a space so quickly. I have always felt that lamp lighting brings in such a comfortable element to literally any space. I treat lighting as a way to really elevate a space. You could have a run down space and if it has nice lighting then it will automatically feel better. The more lamps and low lights around a space as possible!
Your personal space, how do you illuminate it? Do you have a special corner?
MBI light up my spaces with lamps, sconces and pendants. Always making sure the light is giving off a soft and warm hue. A couple years ago I got a vintage wall sconce that is probably one of my personal favourites. It is a soft mossy pistachio green, 1970s Stilnovo style light. I have it hung in a little breakfast nook in the kitchen over a round table and some framed etchings and landscapes.
Molly, where can we find Sips in your space?
MBHonestly, anywhere and everywhere. That’s the beauty of this lamp. It can move around easily as I see fit. On the couch while I read, in the kitchen when I am cooking, outside when I am enjoying nature, really anywhere.
