Ambrosia Lamp

Designer and interiorist of Uruguayan descent, Katty Schiebeck, handles a diverse range of projects, including interior design, architecture, and furniture design on a global scale. We invited Katty to share with us her inspirations, work environments and how she takes on her days in the company of her Ambrosia light.

Katty, could you tell us what you do for a living?
KSI run my own studio from where we carry out all kinds of interior architecture projects. Focused on luxury, we develop residential, hotel, retail projects, etc.
What do you like to do besides work?
KSI love travelling, nature and I am passionate about sports.
What are your references? How do you get inspired?
KSMy references come from anywhere. But I have a special devotion to Belgium, like Van Duysen or Vervoortd. The Korean scene has also caught my attention lately.
Which are your favourite spaces? why?
KSI like the residential project in terms of working on intimacy and also for how you can take care of detail.
How would you describe your style and your spaces?
KSThey tend to define my style as a warm minimalism. But if you ask me, I would like to think of something more museum-like within that minimalism, in which the pieces of design play a relevant role. My spaces are used to being calm where the volumes seek constant harmony.
Is there a place that you carefully created? Tell us about it.
KSAll my projects are carefully treated. It goes without saying when you work in the luxury segment. We currently have projects in Silicon Valley, India, Qatar, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Uruguay and Barcelona. That also implies working for many different cultures with different lifestyles, you can never not take care of those aspects.
What do you like about the Ambrosia lamp from Marset?
KSI have known Marset for years. From Ambrosia, I was fascinated by its simplicity. As in it is such a minimal structure yet there can be so much design.
How important is lighting for you? How do you perceive it and treat it?
KSLight is essential in my projects. As much as possible I try to work with natural light, and then I like to illuminate the spaces trying to achieve the same effect. I like diffused and enveloping lights. Very soft.
How do you light up your spaces? Any specific corner of your house with a beautiful light?
KSI have a corner with a Faye TooGood chair by the window, that’s my thinking corner as I look out the window.
Where can we find Ambrosia in your personal spaces?
KSI have the Ambrosia lamp on my work table. It illuminates in a warm and friendly way and is as if the light levitated.
