Presentation of the MVV lamp in Barcelona

Last 6 November at ā€œLa Capellā€, the bookstore of the Cooperativa d’Arquitectes Jordi Capell in Barcelona, Marset presented its new MVV lamp, a posthumous design by Manuel Valls VergĆ©s, architect and founding member of the Coderch i Valls studio.

At this gathering, Javier Marset and Joan Gaspar talked to the grandson of Manuel Valls VergĆ©s –Pablo Twose– who is also an architect and who rescued this design 45 years later. Moderating the event was communicator and design enthusiast ƒscar Dalmau.

The MVV lamp is a reflection of two stories. One involves the architectural period during which Manuel Valls VergĆ©s lived. His design, despite its timeless nature, reflects the constructive logic of that period and recalls a vast number of memories and references. The other is a personal story and speaks of a grandson – Pablo Twose – who found a lamp designed by his grandfather when the family was emptying out the flat where Manuel once lived. Stuffed in a box, this lamp deserved a second chance. Marset takes us back in time by rescuing this unknown design.

ā€œLa Capellā€ used this event to launch a new series of conversations between subject and publisher to reflect on how they design and create their products.
