Isis, could you tell us what you do for a living?
IMMost days I’m a mom to my three year old son and when he is at daycare I go to my studio to paint or plan projects. But working as a model, there is no real schedule and actually no week looks the same. I also started working as an influencer in the last year, so content creation is also a part of my work, which I really enjoy.
What are your references, what inspires you?
IMI’m mostly inspired by my daily life. I’m a highly sensitive person and I perceive my surroundings in another way than most do. I’m very aware of everything happening at the same time and try to find beauty in the overlooked details. I love colours and its combinations. They bring me joy and that’s a very intuitive practice for me. I try to clear my head and not overthink when I paint.
Everyone has a favourite space, what’s yours and what do you enjoy about it?
IMMy favourite spaces are our living room and my studio. Our living room is the heart of our flat, full of life and light. It’s where we eat, where my son plays and where we watch movies on the beamer. It’s basically where everything happens for us as a family. But I love that I also have a separate space just for painting and working on projects. It’s a small apartment in a quiet backyard that stores all our gadgets, machines, all my paints and canvases. There is just enough space for all our little projects.
How would you describe your style and spaces?
IMI love that our home looks and feels like us, that you can see that we’re living in it. It’s a very eclectic mix of design classics and vintage finds and some self built furniture. Every item has some kind of history and especially with the more expensive items we thought a lot about buying them and if we could imagine them growing with us. I love that it’s very colourful. It’s an oasis for me, a calm space to relax within busy Berlin.
We have a Haller sideboard that contains all our important books and memories and fun little gadgets. It’s where we store our sons toys, a few of his favourite books but also our own projects and figurines, inspirational books and magazines. I feel like the inside of my brain would look like this shelf.
Have you ever come across Marset before?
IMI have seen the FollowMe Light on Instagram and really loved the aesthetic. I love a portable lamp with a cosy light that can set the mood in a room.
How important is lighting for you and can you describe how you treat it in different spaces?
IMLighting is the most important detail for a cosy room. I feel like you need at least 5 different light sources to create a comfortable atmosphere in a room. And that does not include the ceiling light. I’m very distinct about what light colour and where the light sources should be. I think it’s essential  to be able to create a perfectly lit and cosy room. It can elevate a space so much.
Your personal space, how do you illuminate it? Do you have a special corner with a beautiful light?
IMI feel like it’s a good start if you put a light in every corner of the room, but on different height levels. The lamps have to be in a warm colour and can’t be too bright. And if you throw an orange sunset lamp into the mix, you are winning. I also appreciate ceiling lights in combination with some standing or table lamps. But there have to be several light sources in a room to make it work.
Where can we find the Funiculí in your space?
IMI have put the Funiculí in our living room and in my studio. It's just the perfect light source we were still missing, that adds a touch of colour to the space even during the day.
