Lauro

Designed by P. Aragay and J. Pérez Mateo, Lauro was first released in 1978 and now, fifty years later, it’s being reissued and presented to new generations in the firm belief that good design never ages.

A collection that symbolises the essence and origins of Marset, when design was established as a strategic pillar of the brand. Its structure and materials bring to mind the emotional language of the past, enabling us to reconnect with it. At a time like the present, there are contemporary locations that require beautiful objects with volume, that express, inspire and fascinate. Luminaires that assert the values of authenticity and originality, and that surprise with their presence.

This design brings together the past and the present. Its reissue is faithful to the original: the base and the stem, available in chrome or charcoal, are made from steel, a material difficult to shape, typical of the industry at that time. In the 1970s, being able to bend steel was innovative, a huge challenge, and it still is today. That’s why Lauro is also a contemporary design because it highlights the achievements of half a century ago. Its methacrylate shade is available in translucent opal projecting a diffuse light, or in two-layer black to provide direct illumination.

As in the original collection, it’s available in a table version of 41 cms high and with a base of 38 cms, and floor lamp edition with the same base and 135 cms high, and now a wall lamp version of 50 cms high has also been added. In all these versions, the shade can be positioned to direct the light by rotating it and adjusting its height along the support. In terms of lighting, Lauro once again emphasises appearance and, emulating lamps from the past, it works with a light bulb, in this case an LED.

A resounding object that reclaims the past and evokes emotions. Lauro takes its inspiration from the aesthetics and legacy of the seventies and then updates them, with the intention of becoming an icon.

As with the original collection, Lauro is available as as a table lamp (41 cm high with a 38 cm base) and a floor lamp with the same base but a 135 cm height, and now also as a wall lamp, with a height of 50 cm.
