Fragile

Fascinated by timeless design, Jaume Ramírez is drawn to the archetypal table lamp, with its shade casting light in every direction. Taking this as his starting point, he explores and experiments in glass, arriving at cleaner, more defined shapes. Fragile plays with geometry: a cone and a sphere frame a cylinder that emits a soft, diffuse glow upwards from below.

Its form recalls the past, yet its materials stir new emotion. Ramírez uses the language of glass to capture the fragility of life today. The glass does more than reveal the light source: it conveys a sense of purity and weightlessness, allowing the design to blend into its surroundings.

Originally conceived as a single elegant design, Fragile now comes in a new size, expanding its possibilities across pendant, chandelier and wall-light formats. This new scale also extends to the table lamp, which is now available in two sizes. Glass has long been intertwined with the history of the light bulb and the chandelier. In a sense, the material itself seemed to demand an evolution: Fragile is now a collection.

The new Fragile chandelier features a striking aluminium structure supporting three, six or nine individual lamps. Each small lamp provides warm, ambient light, while the fixture itself includes a downward-facing spotlight, making the chandelier highly practical. The three- and six-lamp versions can illuminate spaces and surfaces of any size, while the nine-lamp version is designed for spaces with high ceilings.

This new design draws out the visual contrast between the solidity of its mount and the delicacy of its forms and materials. Its arrangement is reminiscent of a fractal, a geometric shape repeated at different scales. The Fragile chandelier does more than provide impeccable lighting: it creates a distinct architectural form and organises the space through repetition, order and precision of light, signalling the importance of the setting.

The introduction of a new size has expanded Fragile into a collection offering a wide variety of configurations and formats – a versatile lighting tool for all kinds of projects. Its different compositions play with the presence or absence of three geometric elements: the sphere, the cone and the cylinder. Each combination calls to mind different influences and familiar archetypes from the history of lighting. The new collection is available in three finishes (aluminium, black and matt white) and two colour temperatures (2200K and 2700K).
